Q.Do I have to sign up or register anywhere (like a forum or guild) before I apply for a pet?
A. Nope, DLAA adoptions are open to anyone who wants to apply.
Q. How will I know if my application is chosen?
A. The partner who is fostering the pet will contact you after they have finished reviewing all the applications.
Q. How long do I have to wait for the partner to contact me? It's been DAYS!
A. This varies widely, pets are available for several days, sometimes several weeks depending on the pet and the partner! Just try to be patient.
Q. Why didn't I get the pet I wanted? I worked really hard on my application!
A. Sorry, but sometimes even if your application is great, there's one more that's even better. Especially for extremely popular pets, partners will sometimes get hundreds of applications. So don't get discouraged, feel free to try again for another pet in the future!
Q. How many times should I neomail the pertner about the pet I want? I want him so bad!
A. ONCE. Please, only once. We get so may applications already! To ask over and over is extremely rude, and will definately decrease your chances of getting the pet. If you send too many requests you may get blocked, or in extreme cases, added to the Hall of Shame.
Q. Oh no! I forgot to include my contact info in my neomail and I'm only allowed to neomail once! What should I do?
A. Ok, one follow-up neomail explaining nicely that you forgot to say something important is ok.
Q. I really want to adopt a [insert pet name/color here]! Next time you have one will you hold it for me? Or at least email me when you have one? Please?!?
A. No and NO. Absolutely not. We're an Adoption Agency, not a notification service. And we will not "reserve" pets for anyone. Just keep checking the Ready to Adopt page and apply once the pet you're looking for shows up.
Q. I've adopted from you guys before, can I apply again for another pet?
A. Of course! We can't promise any special treatment, but you can apply for as many pets as you like, as long as you can give them all good homes of course.
Q. Is there a limit to the number of pets I can adopt from DLAA?
A. Nope, no limit. Again, as long as our babies get good homes it's ok with us.
Q. My application is way to long for a neomail. Can I just email it to you?
A.You will want to ask the partner who is fostering the pet. Some will allow this and some will not.
Q. My application is way to long for a neomail. Can I put it on a web page?
A. Yes you may! If you want to make an HTML application, please go right ahead. Just neomail the partner a short note and the url link.
Q. Do I HAVE to make an HTML application, write a story, or make up a roleplay scenario to apply for a pet?
A. No you don't have to do any of these things, but if you want to it's ok. Just use proper grammar and spelling, and be sincere, and most of the time that's enough to get our attention and keep you in the running.
Q. Why do I have to put up a DLAA banner in my adopted pet's lookup?
A. Oh come on, that's like asking if you can take my artwork or my story and put it on your page and not give me credit! That's not fair. Plus, those banners are the only way others will ever hear about DLAA.
Q. Ok fine, but how do I put the banner on his/her lookup?
A. First choose a banner from HERE. Copy the code from the box below it. Then edit your pet's lookup HERE. Paste the code into the box next to the picture of your newly adopted pet. Push the "Update Descriptions" button, and voila!
Q. Why do I HAVE to use an Instant Messenger program to adopt one of your pets? I don't like them/I'm not allowed to use them/They don't work on my computer.
A. Because that's the only reliable way we've found to do pet transfers. If you don't or can't use an IM program then you can't adopt from DLAA. It's that simple, sorry.
Q. Ok fine, so What Instant Messenger program do I have to use?
A. Check with the partner you're trying to adopt from, not all partners have the same program(s). We use either AIM, MSN or YIM, some partners use 1, 2 or all 3 of them, so always check with the individual partner if you don't have all 3. And chances are good that you won't find anyone with ICQ, sorry.
Q. I want to be a partner! Where do I sign up?
A. That depends. See THIS PAGE for current details.
Q. Will you/a partner zap my pets for me?
A. No, sorry, but that's not what we do here. We're busy enough already zapping our own pets thankyouverymuch.
Q. I was looking at a partner's lookup and I saw a [insert pet species/color here] but it wasn't up for adoption! Will it ever be? Can I have it?
A. Please do NOT ever ask for a pet that does not say it is up for adoption. This is probably one of our partners' personal pets and we are very attached to them! This is a very good way to make us irritated so just don't do it.
Q. I'm not a partner, but I have a pet I'd like to put up for adoption. Can I list it with DLAA?
A. No, sorry. DLAA is for partners only, that keeps things tidier for us. Try a site like TNO if it's just one or two pets. Or if you want to start up your own adoption site/guild, you can try to get listed with a site like AGA.
Q. Why isn't there a DLAA Guild?
A. Many of us already belong to great guilds. Also, we don't want anyone thinking that joining the right guild will get you a better chance at a pet. It's all about the application.
Q. I'm not a partner or intern, but I still want to support DLAA! How can I help?
A. A variety of ways! You could post one of our banners on your website or on any of your Neopets lookups. We also have some cute fake item graphics you can put in your Neopets shop if you want. You can also join the forums and get to know us better! Non-DLAA members are welcome. We don't bite. Usually.
Q. Can I donate banners/artwork to DLAA?
A. Sure! There's no guarantee we'll use them though. Banners should be 200x50 pixels and jpg or gif format. Other artwork will be accepted on an as needed basis, you could probably poke around in the forums and find out if we're looking for anything.
Q. Do you guys get paid to do this?
A. Um... no. 0.o
