So, you want to know how to make your adoption application spiffy and appeal to us partners? Easy. Just follow these tips and be creative! I wish you the best of luck.

1.) Stop and consider
Consider carefully whether you really want the pet you're about to apply for. Is it just a passing need? Or do you really know it's the pet for you? If you picked the first question. Heh. Don't even bother to neomail the owner. But if you really are convinced it's the pet for you, go for it! Send a neomail application to the owner. Now, some people get confused. You don't just neomail us saying "I want your pet, what time are you abandoning it?". That isn't an application! Tell us why you want to adopt the pet and tell a little about yourself.

2.) Be fast
Don't spend hours pondering over whether a pet is or isn't for you, the quicker you neomail the partner with your nice application the better chance you have of getting accepted!

3.) Writing the actual neomail
Read the rules, for crying out loud! We partners can't stress that enough. It is extremely important that you follow the rules. ALL the rules. That is, of course, unless you don't actually want the pet you're applying for.

Use good content. "Hey i wnat that tpe" doesn't exactly make us want to adopt out the pet to you. As partners, we have a certain level of attachment to the little pets we zap and want them in the best home we can find for them. You can convince us about this by talking about how you will treat your pet, why you want to adopt it, and so on and so forth. Also, be at least able to spell the pet's name right and know the pet's gender. Using "he/she" or "it" is going to make us think you don't really care about the pet at all. Oh and NO CHATSPEAK! Check your spelling and grammar while you're at it too... ;D.

Quality over quantity. While we do like to see a long and well-thought out application for our pets, it does no good to ramble on, over and over, about the same subject. We like hearing things that are worthwhile and that make us want to adopt our pet to you.

Contact Info is extremely important to include in your application. If you don't have an instant messenger of some kind, (YIM, MSN, AIM etc.), you will not be able to adopt. Email and Neomail aren't fast enough, and the pet will be lost in the pound. It doesn't really matter where you put your IM info just as long as it's in your application somewhere. Make sure you have the same messenger(s) as the owner of the adoptee. VERY IMPORTANT!

4.) Sending the neomail
You may send only one application, and one only! Repeated Neomails saying useless messages like "Hey have you got my Neomail", "are you even online???" will only serve to further irritate us and we will block you fro spamming. Please remember to follow all the rules as well (*cough*#3*cough*).

5.) Creativity
Hmm... creativity? If I take a look at the first 20 adoption applications in my inbox, wow. Not many of you have that "blow away, extra special application" quality that most of use partners are looking for in the application. Get creative, people! We LOVE applications that are done on petpages. It shows us a lot more about you and you can write bunches more about yourself, the pet you would like to adopt... etc. If you pick a petpage (DO IT! xD), be sure to include special things like a poem, picture, story, or, if you're a role-player, a sample of RP with the pet. Believe me, all this hard work will pay off!

6.) Waiting....*sigh*
Be patient, please. Most pet transfers will take some time as we review all of the applications we receive, or sometimes we're held up by unexpected events in our real lives, but unless there is a failed transfer there will usually be an update on the To Be Adopted' page of DLAA, or you will receive a Neomail from the trainer updating you on the pet's status.

7.) Accepted? Me? YAY!
If you got accepted, congrats! Try to be online as much as possible so the partner can contact you to do the transfer. Usually the trainer, upon the start of the conversation, will instruct you on how he or she will conduct it. In this situation, it's all up to you. Best of luck!
